Wawa Hoagiefest 2020 2022
Unless you grew up in Pennsylvania, it’s hard to understand the cult following that Wawa generates (I’ve seen literal fist fights over the Wawa vs. Sheetz elevated gas station debate). So when we got the call to pitch the Hoagiefest campaign, I was over the moon. Even more so when we found out we won the business… In February, 2020. Fortunately, when COVID hit that next month, we had already decided on an animated route, and were able to continue our work. Two months later, in the beginning of June, we finished the spots. Almost immediately afterward, they called off the promotion. Then called it back on! Then off. Then back on again! Then they found out there weren’t enough hoagie rolls, and that put the end to that.
Two years later, nature is healing. Hoagiefest has returned. And I can cross writing a jingle off of my advertising bucket list.
